I say almost overnight, because it was our first Amiga, the manual was thick and heavy, and the only tutorials were on VHS tape. We went from a cuts-only video production house doing limited ENG work to a fully capable post-production house doing high-end documentaries and commercials almost overnight. It paid for itself in the first two jobs. I've been waiting for this installment! We bought a Video Toaster 4000 pretty much based on that 1993 demo, which we requested and NewTek sent us on VHS. You would think someone would have clued into something as basic as "hey, this product we're sinking a ton of cash into-do you think it'll fit in your new machine?"īut somehow they totally flubbed this one. Yes, but you would figure Commodore and NewTek would have been talking at least casually: NewTek was making a product that depended on Commodore's platform, and Commodore did talk to developers (albeit not all that well) who were designing hardware. The A4000 and VT4000 were designed to work together.

One note: in one of the great cock-ups in Amiga history-and there are a lot to choose from-the VT couldn't physically fit in Commodore's then-new Amiga 3000.
